Air compressor tripped on a fault code?

176 documented fault codes across Atlas Copco, Gardner Denver, Ingersoll Rand, Kaeser, Quincy, and Sullair, verified against service manuals — what each one means, what to check yourself, and when it's a tech call.

Find your controller

Every code on this site is filed by brand and by the controller that displays it, because the same fault can read differently from one controller to the next. Match the name on your display or in your manual:

  • Atlas Copco - Elektronikon controllers (Elektronikon II regulator, Mk 5, Touch and Graphic) on GA and GA VSD machines.
  • Gardner Denver - AirSmart and AirSmart G2 controllers.
  • Ingersoll Rand - Intellisys on SSR machines, and Xe-series controllers.
  • Kaeser - Sigma Control and Sigma Control 2.
  • Quincy - QSI standard controls, INFOLOGIC and Airlogic2.
  • Sullair - Sullair Touch Screen (STS), WS, Supervisor and ShopTek controllers.

Warning or shutdown?

Most controllers sort their messages into two levels. A warning (Kaeser marks these with a W; Gardner Denver calls them advisories) means the machine is still running but a limit is getting close: a filter loading up, a temperature climbing, a service interval coming due. A shutdown or alarm (Kaeser marks these with an A) means the controller has already stopped the compressor to protect it. A warning is your chance to fix a small problem cheaply. A shutdown needs its cause found before you restart.

Either way, write down the exact code and message before you reset anything. One reset is diagnosis; if the same fault comes back, the condition behind it is real, and the code page will tell you what to check yourself and when it is time for a technician.
